Question 2: Dear Duncan, Do you know if there is a link between bedwetting and TS?? Any info or websites answering this question would be appreciated? R.V. California

Hello R.V.:

I have not come across anything specifically pertaining to that in the literature, but anecdotally have heard of at least one case. It makes intuitive sense that since inhibitory controls (re: movements) are weak in those with TS, and since many of the disorders associated with TS involve other types of poor inhibition (attention, thoughts, emotions, etc.) a condition like bedwetting which involves poor inhibition of the urge to urinate might be part of the "mix".

The only citation I was able to find was a letter from AK Shapiro (1981) that pimozide (Orap) may induce enuresis (bed-wetting).

Thanks for writing!
Dr. Dunc.
