Tavia M.

Tavia is probably the youngest role model on this site; she may have been a SMALL girl when I met her in March 2004, but she writes some very BIG ideas below!

Have the courage to be yourself

Courage is very important. You can use it for many different things. You can use it to do something for the first time, stay strong when you're scared, or to stand up in front of an audience. You can even use courage to be yourself.

Have you ever been in a situation where you wished you had more courage to be yourself? I have.

I sometimes wish I was someone else, but then I quickly remind myself that I have to be myself, that I should be happy about who I am. Other times, when I'm feeling that way, I go a little bit too far, and, I have to admit, I get really, really angry for some reason-I have no idea why-and go around sulking for the rest of the day. But, that almost never happens. I really am happy most of the time. Things just really get on my nerves some days. Especially when someone isn't being very nice to me. Most of the time, I just love having the courage to be myself. Don't you? I mean, I think being different is fun, even if I sometimes wish I was someone else. Humans aren't perfect, are they?

Do you have the courage to be yourself? If you do, CONGRATULATIONS! And if you don't, just try to work a little bit harder.

When you have the courage to be yourself, it's almost as if you are free, free from the world of copy-cats.
