Christian

Christian is a Grade 4 student in Alberta, Canada; he wrote the following poem about Tourette Syndrome for a school contest. Here I am getting to meet him in March, 2005. You go, Christian!!

My Life As Me

Tourette, Tourette
Even though I have it
It doesn’t mean I’m dumb
It doesn’t mean I’m stupid
It means I am unique

Why, why
Is it I?
Because I’m born with it
It’s a friend of mine
It is Tourette

That is God’s greatest gift of all
I’m not weird
I’m not strange
I’m not a dumbo
I got TS and that’s a part of me!

TS, TS come again another day
Sorry folks but TS is with me
Always, always
Can’t accept it
CALL TS BUSTERS!!!

Sorry lines down
Ya got to accept it man!!!
TS might seem like a disease
But it’s not
It’s my friend

Try to understand
It’s just an imbalanced brain chemical
Imagine a Lamborghini
That has no brakes
Try to stop that!

So to all of you people who don’t have TS
Try to remember
I’m smart and I’m nice
So be a nice friend
To me a TS guy!!
